Nurmiza is an undergraduate student pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Microbiology at UKM. Her final year project focuses on understanding the microbiome and its functional roles in supporting the growth of mangrove trees using 16S rRNA bioinformatics analysis. This project involves DNA extraction, PCR amplification, sequencing, and computational analysis to uncover microbial interactions in mangrove ecosystems. Through this work, she aims to contribute to sustainable environmental solutions, as well as a broader understanding of microbial diversity at different soil depths.
Beyond research, she enjoys engaging in community service, especially in educational outreach programs for rural students. In her free time, she loves hiking, jungle trekking, and camping—"Escape the hectic life, lose yourself in nature, and find peace."
