Yee Lynn is an undergraduate student of a Bachelor’s Degree in Microbiology in UKM. She did her final year project under the supervision of Dr Hazlin where she quantified the relative abundance of mcrA gene, which is conserved in methanogenic and methanotrophic archaea, at different soil depths to give insight on methane gas emission from mangrove sediments. Her study may help reduce climate change caused by anthropogenic disruption of mangrove, which affects microbial communities involved in nutrient cycling in mangrove sediment. In the future, she is interested in doing research that can contribute to nature conservation.
To balance between work and life, she enjoys singing and playing badminton during her free time. Singing helps her to release stress, and badminton boosts her stamina and critical thinking. Do dm her if you need ‘kaki’ for badminton!
