Miao Jing is a PhD student in UKM. During her undergraduate and postgraduate studies, she has been studying environmental science and microbiology. Her current research focuses on microbial communities involved in carbon cycling and their response to environmental disturbances in mangrove sediments. Research projects focus on the interaction between environmental pollutants (such as microplastics, heavy metals, TPH, PAHs, etc.), functional microorganisms, and carbon cycling. The research results will potentially assist in policy-making to be applied to the restoration and protection of mangrove forest reserves and similarly ecologically important sites.
In addition to her research work in the laboratory, she is interested in history and travel. In her spare time, she relaxes by watching stage plays about history or visiting museums. When travelling, she likes to visit places of interest, as well as local art exhibitions and history museums. In this way, she can expand her thinking.
