Siti Nursyaida Irdina binti Sazali is a final-year Bachelor of Science with Honours (Microbiology) student at UKM. For her Final Year Project, she focuses on the metagenomic analysis of the microbial nitrogen cycle in mangrove sediments. Specifically, her study aims to identify and analyse the relative abundance of the nifH gene associated with nitrogen-fixing microorganisms. This research integrates metagenomic data analysis, microbial culturing, and molecular techniques to better understand the role and diversity of nitrogen-fixing communities in mangrove ecosystems.
She is passionate about culturing unique bacteria on agar plates and conducting molecular analyses of environmental microorganisms, as she enjoys exploring nature and studying microbial diversity in natural ecosystems. These interests have further inspired her passion for microorganisms and environmental science. Besides that, she also enjoys watching Korean dramas in her free time.
